Optus ‘yes’ time, Vodafone Free Choice, Telstra Freechat…  what are we talking about?  We’re talking free calls from your mobile phone to other phone numbers here.  Is it worth you having to reconnect to another company just to get to these delicious “freebies”?  Here’s where we investigate for you.

“The first 15 minutes of a call to another MobileNet service are free from 9pm to 5am.”  That’s great!  I think I’ll join Telstra.  But wait, Optus has got ‘yes’ time, free from 8pm to midnight, every night, for the first 20 minutes; and now there’s Vodafone, which means that calls between Vodafone mobile phones are free from 7pm to 7 am.  And then there are varying weekend rates… 

Admittedly, to many these are quite confusing issues already. Throw that in with questions like, “what networks are my friends on?”, and you have a deadly cocktail of questions.  Here is a checklist of questions you should ask while you study these “freebies”:

However, there are no conclusive answers.  Your choice should be made after consideration of your own usage.  The above is a simple guide to help you make the choice while “covering all bases”.
