Privateers

Privateers

Reviewed on 10 December 2004

Price: AU$6.60

Roaming the Caribbean has never really been my idea of fun, but then again, I’ve been to the real Caribbean, sat on the beaches, soaked up the atmosphere of cheap Rum and even had to cope with picking worms out of my Coconuts.

In Privateers, you set out to explore the passions of times gone by, a time when the Caribbean was a thriving hell hole of pirates, colonialists and merchants all out to make a living – by killing, conquering and trading their way to glory.

Discover islands, collect resources, amass a fortune to get ahead, as you cruise around the Caribbean in a variety of ships, warring with many different opponents and travel the path to glory as you’ve never experienced it before.

The graphics in this game are pretty good, as is the game play, with a clear extended purpose of game play and a large area of the Caribbean to explore and trade in.

The game won second place in Motorola’s 2003 Mobile Game Development Competition.

We give this game 7 out of 10.
