Sony Ericsson J132 - Future phone

Sony Ericsson J132

Sony Ericsson J132

21 June 2008
Written by Mike Meers

Entry level handsets are still holding strong, with Sony Ericsson announcing two new devices in recent days. The first is the J132, designed with simplicity and value for money in mind.

The J132 is focused on talk and text. It has a dust resistant keypad and only supports SMS messaging, with T9 predictive text dictionaries available in local languages.

The display is a bright CSTN LCD that measures 128 x 128 pixels with 65,536 colour support.

With a built-in FM radio and included stereo headset you can enjoy radio quality entertainment on the J132 right out of the box. The radio also supports RDS so you can catch the station name and track details in a glance.

The J132’s radio operates alongside the radio so you can wake up to your favourite station. Finding objects in the dark is easy with the built-in torch light. Other features include a calendar, phone book, task manager, timer, stopwatch, and calculator.

Up to 9 hours of talk time can be squeezed from the J132’s battery, or up to 450 hours standby time.

The dual-band (GSM 900/1800MHz) J132 will be available in selected markets from Q4 2008. A J132a model will also be released with GSM 850/1900MHz network compatibility for the American market.
