Nokia 6600 Slide

The sister to the Nokia 6600 Fold is the aptly named Nokia 6600 Slide. The Slide variation of the handset is one of Nokia’s smallest sliders to date and has slightly more top-end features than the Fold variation but the same sleek styling.
The first thing you notice about the 6600 Slide is the cool steel covers and its aluminium navigational key. On the front of the handset you will find the bare essentials: a beautiful 2.2” LCD display, the navigational key, two soft keys, one pick-up key and one hang-up key. Just like the 6600 Fold the 6600 Slide has a touch-sensitive front panel – when tapped twice the display lights up with the time, can be used to snooze an alarm or reject/silence an incoming call.
The LCD itself is a 16.7 million colour QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) panel, providing not only adequate screen real estate for the simplistic Series 40 user interface but great quality and depth for viewing images captured by the built-in 3.2mpx digital camera. The camera itself has 8x digital zoom and a dual-LED flash for nigh photos. Unfortunately, it is fixed focus.
Bluetooth 2.0 is included for wireless connectivity with supported accessories. If USB is your thing you’ll be happy to know the 6600 Slide supports the high-speed version 2.0 standard and the handset can be charged while data is being transferred.
Just like the 6600 Fold, the 6600 Slide supports the 2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz and UMTS 850/2100MHz networks. HSDPA is not supported but there’s EDGE, GPRS, and UMTS data, with the Opera Mini 4 browser pre-installed for all your web browsing needs.
20MB of shared memory is user-accessible, but the 6600 Slide is also equipped with a microSD memory card slot. A 512MB card is included in the sales package which you can pack with videos, music, images, and more. The built-in music player supports MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA file formats, with 3GPP H.263 and H.264 and MPEG4 video playback.
Keep in touch with friend as and family with SMS, MMS, and e-mail messaging. An instant messaging application supporting AOL, ICQ, Yahoo and Windows Live protocols is also included.
A huge range of pre-installed applications can be found on the 6600 Fold including Nokia Maps, Yahoo! Go, Windows Live, Download!, Presenter, and a World Clock.
The 6600 Fold will be available alongside the 6600 Slide in the 3rd quarter of 2008 for an estimated price of ~$407 AUD (250 EUR) before taxes and subsidies.
