Finding lost or stolen phones, and locating family and friends just got easier, with today's launch of a new technology on Telstra mobile phones. The new service, Whereis Everyone, enables family and friends to see each other's location on maps sent to their Telstra mobile phones, using the new location based system.
How it works?
Using Telstra's Assisted Global Positioning System (AGPS) and network positioning, Whereis Everyone works whenever your phone is on and in a Telstra mobile coverage area.
The service gives users full control of their privacy by ensuring that customers must accept an invitation to share their location before proceeding. Consumers can control whether they wish to be located or not and users can make themselves invisible if they choose.
Whereis Everyone is free to join and customers only pay for each location look-up or alert. Casual location look-ups are priced at 50 cents or you can subscribe for $2.95 per month and receive unlimited look-ups*. Each location alert received costs 30 cents.
