Optus releases iPhone pricing
04 July 2008
Reported by David Hall
Optus have released information on their post- and pre-paid iPhone pricing schedule, with data allowances of up to 1GB per month available on the highest plan.
Optus is offering two types of post-paid plans for the iPhone 3G - the 'yes' Cap plans range from $19 per month with 100MB of data allowance and $50 of calls/text, up to $179 per month with 1GB of data allowance and up to $1500 of calls/text.
On the $19 plan users can pay off an 8GB iPhone at $51 per month on a 12-month contract or $21 per month on a 24-month contract. The 16GB iPhone will require $61 per month on a 12-month contract and $26 on a 24-month contract.
Alternatively users can opt for the non-Cap 'yes' plans which sport slightly lower call rates, lower spending allowances, and with similar data allowances. The lowest plan, at $19 per month, includes 100MB of data but only $14 of included calls. The highest plan, at $149 per month, includes 1GB of data allowance and only $144 of calls, text and more.
On the $19 plan the 8GB iPhone 3G can be paid off at $49 per month on a 12-month contract and $19 per month on a 24-month contract. For the 16GB model on the $19 plan, it will cost $59 per month on 12-month plan and $17 on a 24-month plan.
Note: on both the 'yes' Cap and non-Cap plans, as the monthly plan increases the iPhone 3G monthly repayments decrease.
Optus have also announced their pre-paid pricing. Users can purchase an iPhone 3G 8GB for $729 without a contract and the 16GB model for $849 without a contract. Pre-paid caps start at $30 with $170 total value and no data allowance, up to $100 with $1000 total value and 1GB of included data.
