Vodafone releases iPhone pricing
10 July 2008
Reported by Angus Leung
Vodafone Australia today announced that Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 3G will be available on a range of
new caps that reflect expected voice and data usage from launch on July 11. Full pricing details are available
Apple's iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast*
as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0
software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party
applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.
"The iPhone 3G is designed for customers who want to download mobile music and entertainment, as well
as enjoy mobile email, so we've created caps that realistically cater for that type of data usage," said Russell
Hewitt, CEO at Vodafone Australia.
"True to our brand promise, Vodafone is being straight-up with customers by telling them exactly what's
included within our iPhone 3G caps and how much it costs," added Hewitt.
"Pre-registration demand for the iPhone 3G has been incredible," said Russell Hewitt. "iPhone 3G is a
revolutionary product. Combined with Vodafone's high-speed mobile network and our great value price
plans, customers are assured of a fantastic experience and excellent value for their money."
Since announcing its agreement to sell Apple's iPhone 3G in Australia, Vodafone has been inundated by
customers who have pre-registered their interest in the device online. From today, Vodafone will begin
inviting pre-registered customers to agree to a 24-month contract and purchase their own iPhone 3G from a
reserved allocation of iPhone 3G stocks. Customers will need to move quickly as the reserved stocks are
strictly limited in number. Vodafone will communicate this offer directly to all pre-registered customers prior to
online sales commencing on Thursday, July 10. Vodafone stores and selected retail outlets will also be
stocking the iPhone 3G from Friday, July 11. When Vodafone ramps up to full commercial availability, iPhone
3G will be available at more than 800 retail outlets.
