Samsung - the Worldwide Olympic Partner of the Games representing the Wireless Communications Equipment Category - had the privilege to be a part of the thrill with the set-up of the Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung (OR@S) - Samsung's 400 square meter free entertainment complex. Located inside the Sydney Olympic Park, it is just a 10-minute walk from Stadium Australia and the Olympic Park Station. The complex is an attraction by itself, with its sail-like tension fabric architecture representing a flame - symbolising the Olympic Movement and the native Australian Waratah Flower.
Samsung's pavilion was created in a bid for the company to show their commitment and passion towards sport and sharing it with people from all over the world. It has four key areas within the complex, each with functions to serve and entertain athletes as well as visitors to the Olympic Park.
The Athletes Centre
Dubbed a "home-away-from-home" for visiting athletes, this centre is situated just aft the Rendezvous Plaza. It is a secure, private environment where athletes can relax with friends and family away from the harshness of competition.
The Rendezvous Plaza
This is an open area where the public gathers for daily entertainment, Olympic Games memorabilia auctions as well as a place where they can watch all the action of the Games and support their national Olympic Teams. A main stage with a large screen has been erected, and it ran live broadcasts of the events, and is the focal point for international entertainment, daily athlete appearance and other events.

Samsung has developed a unique live and multimedia futuristic performance that is shown every day at specific hours at the atrium area dividing the Athletes Centre and Spectator Centre. It begins with sound, progressing to words, language, information and finally - wireless communications.
Hosting more than a million visitors, including athletes, their families and members of the public, OR @ S is a huge success to both the organisers, and was a wonderful opportunity for both athletes and visitors to experience something out of the ordinary "home away from home".
