3 mobile, Australia's first 3G network, yesterday announced a set of new pricing packs aimed at giving customers more value to call internationally from their mobile, similar to a calling card model.
Talk International allows customers to pre-pay $7.50 per month for 100 minutes, which can be used to call one of eight popular destinations. This effectively brings the call per minute rate down to 7.5 cents per minute for calls to landlines in the UK and Ireland, New Zealand and Greece and landlines and mobiles in the US and Canada and Hong Kong and China. In addition, Talk International customers receive a 25% off all other international calling costs.
"3 is showing consumers that calling internationally from a mobile shouldn't be price prohibitive. With Talk International, customers who want to talk with family, friends or business associates overseas can do so with a simple, flat rate service that offers great value," said Scott Taylor, General Manager Content and Services, 3 mobile.
Talk International compliments 3 mobile's range of p lans, which also include an allocation of international voice minutes. Consumers now have extended value and more choices to talk internationally without restrictions or fear of bill shock.
Customers who are conscious of their mobile spend can also track how many minutes they have used, how much of their cap value they've spent and even how much data they've used directly on their handset at anytime through My3 - a free account service to all customers.
"3 is changing the way people use their mobiles – that's not only about using their mobile for new services like watching TV, but using their mobile to connect more to the people who are important to them. With Talk International we're facilitating that and enabling more customers to call internationally in a more affordable and predictable way," added Scott Taylor.
This service can be subscribed to or cancelled on a monthly basis, so it's very handy if you wish to call your loved ones on Christmas Day or New Year. To cancel the pack customers need only call 133 320.
