Going slightly off-topic here, I thought this little device would be of interest to those that have to leave their pets at home while they’re out at work - or just going to places where you simply can’t bring your “best friend” along!
Called the “iSeePet”, this ingenious device has the ability to provide for the needs of your pet when you are away from home, while at the same time giving you the peace of mind of knowing what your pet is up to. Clever eh… “but how does it do it?”
The developer (AlphaOmega Soft Inc.) describes the product as a “remotely controllable pet communication system via the Internet”. To put this in English, the iSeePet device comes with several features enabling you some control over how your pet behaves at home, including:
The storage of water and dried food, which can be remotely dispensed by its owner via the Internet or their mobile phone;
Viewing live feeds of your pet through iSeePet’s network camera, transferred via the Internet where it is viewable on a web browser; and
Receiving still photos of your pet on a compatible mobile phone using the iSeePet’s network camera.
The iSeePet comes with a 10Base-T (Ethernet) connection, which plugs in directly to a broadband service which is Internet-enabled. Its network camera supports up to 30 frames per second, providing you with basically full-motion video on request which can only be viewed on the Internet via the PC’s web browser.
A good idea?
No idea is a bad idea - as it really depends on whether you know how to appreciate it or not. The iSeePet concept is truly interesting, as it facilitates on the need of having peace of mind knowing your pet is taking care of him/herself.
